What is a VOCATION?
A vocation is a call from God; it is who you are. A career is what you do within the context of your vocation. When we engage with our community and are of service to our brothers and sisters, we can develop and understand our particular gifts, and where those gifts overlap with the greatest need in our local community.
The primary vocations God calls us to are married life, diocesan priesthood, religious life and the diaconate.
Since the beginning, the ordained ministry has been conferred and exercised in three degrees: that of bishops, that of presbyters, and that of deacons. The ministries conferred by ordination are irreplaceable for the organic structure of the Church: without the bishop, presbyters, and deacons, one cannot speak of the Church. (CCC 1593)
